Account Manager

-Job Description-

 

The Account Manager is responsible for developing, maintaining, and overseeing all aspects of a portfolio of client accounts in a variety of industries. This position’s main purpose is in the assistance of planning, controlling, reporting and measuring clients’ financial activities ensuring safeguards and care are integrated in their practices.  The Account Manager is responsible, either directly or indirectly, for the maintenance of fiscal records, the preparation of financial reports including monthly bank reconciliations, payroll functions, and applicable tax remittances. The Account Manager may also be responsible for coaching other staff, travelling to client sites, and participating in business development activities that foster efficiencies and continuously enhance client relations.

 

Primary Duties

                Develop, maintain, and oversee all aspects of a portfolio of client accounts in a variety of industries

                Maintain books of account (including but not limited to preparing cheques, coding and posting invoices, preparing deposits, journal entries, reconciliations, petty cash)

                Coach bookkeeping team members, including review and approval of work assignments and training requirements of the team

                Maintain financial security by researching and reconciling discrepancies; auditing and verifying documents; following internal controls; completing data backups

                Oversee issuing of cheques / payment of invoices. Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes

               Calculate, prepare, and issue bills, invoices, account statements, and other financial statements according to established procedures

               Debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases, using specialized accounting software

                Complete payroll functions, monthly / quarterly financial statements, tax remittances, and account reconciliations

                Maintain year-end working papers and spreadsheets, and assist with preparation for any audits or independent reviews as necessary

                Exert care and control over assets and records and establish procedures for safeguarding, including security and computer backup (copy virus checked and stored off-site)

                Assist ABI BUSINESS SERVICES INC in maintaining policy and procedure documentation for complex financial and accounting issues (internally and externally)

                Maintain current knowledge of applicable regulatory changes and impacts on an organization’s books of account

                Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial and bookkeeping activities

                Maintain up-to-date, complete and systematic filing system to support bookkeeping and financial records

                Provide forensic bookkeeping services as necessary

                Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of an organization as necessary

                Accomplish tasks on time and contribute to the team by taking on special projects as needed

Working Conditions

                Travel may be required

                Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals

                Overtime as required

                Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required

 

Requirements

·                Minimum Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field required;

·                5+ years of experience in financial management

·                Strong asset (but not mandatory): Completion of courses certified by the Canadian Bookkeepers Association, Certified General Accountants Association of Canada, or Canadian Securities Institute

·                Clear criminal background check

·                Indepth understanding of computerized systems and accounting systems such as Simply Accounting, QuickBooks, Excel, MS Word

·                Experience in accounting is considered a strong asset

·                Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

·                Accuracy and attention to detail while working under tight deadlines

·                Assertive, comfortable communicating with various types of individuals

·                Good interpersonal and customer service skills

·                Billing experience is an asset

·                Good team player

·                Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects

·                Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills

·                Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills

·                High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts

·                Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
